“He lay face down on the deck of the ship gasping for every breath, his heavy wool coat soaked through, chilling his hungry bones. Two minutes earlier, ha had nearly drowned. Hanging on for his life to the line from the jib – it was the only thing that kept him near to, then back onto the ship. Panicked from what had just happened, he thought, “This better be worth risking our lives.” ——- Thus began the journey for John Howland across the sea in a little ship christened The Mayflower. A journey that would take him to this new world so full of promise. A journey that let From Sea to Shining Sea. ——–
That John Howland, was actually my great, great, great, great…( nine greats) grandfather, who married my great, great, great, great (you get the idea)….grandmother, Elizabeth Tilley in 1624, during those first unimaginable years in the New World, in the primitive settlement that came to be known as Plymouth, Massachusetts. So I have, shall we say, a vested interest in these United States of America and what makes and made it great…including the music that molded and melded our country.
Thus begins the narration of our organ and multi-media concert experience, From Sea to Shining Sea. If you are interested in hosting a concert, please contact me, Jeannine Jordan (a Mayflower descendant) at firstname.lastname@example.org
